Mission
To create a preferred destination in West Philadelphia for both international residents and cultural activities that encourages all participants, international and American, to believe in the goodness of one another and a lasting understanding that all people are essentially the same.
Top 4 Popular Ideas (by Votes):
• IHP will activate the Space and will maximize thematic utilization of the space
• Social media will be judiciously exploited for the benefit of IHP and its stakeholders
• Appropriate selection criteria in recruiting staff and residents will be exercised.

Design that dissolves the Mess:
IHP will:
• sell off the current property (for > $15M),
• create an endowment,
• purchase the recently vacated West Philadelphia High School for a reasonable price,
• engage and co-opt the city, state, universities, corporate and community stakeholders in developing a “destination” in West Philadelphia through the nucleus of an international house campus with associated global village
• endow the new system with all the design elements that have identified and spelt out, and
• manage the transition by judiciously exploiting the current system while developing the new campus.

A unique brand will be created that is going to be perceived independent of UPENN.
• It will portray IHP as community and not Penn auxiliary or residential housing; it will be conceived as an open space and not a closed community
Conferences will be organized
Additional offerings will include:
• Concierge service for residents
• Language courses with volunteer teachers
• Cultural projects (like Confucius Institute)
• West Philadelphia welcoming for art and culture e.g. International Cultural Programming, Visual Arts, Storytelling, and dance

• Utilizing IHP resident talents (e.g. Summer camps taught by residents, Immersion language programs)
• Building an endowment built prior to building IHP
• Membership by residents is funded
